Golden Leaf Indian sandstone paving is all about warmth and variation. The mix of golden yellows, soft browns, and occasional grey tones gives it a brighter, more inviting feel underfoot. Each slab carries its own pattern, with light veining and tonal shifts running throughout.
The slabs are calibrated to approximately 22mm, helping to keep levels consistent during installation. Each piece is hand-cut with a naturally riven surface, giving it that textured finish associated with traditional Indian sandstone. As picturesque as it is, it’s not just about appearance; that surface also provides grip underfoot, making it a practical option for everyday use across patios, pathways, and seating areas.
Our Golden Leaf sandstone paving is available in single-slab options, including 600 x 600 and 900 x 600 slabs, as well as larger pack quantities depending on how you’re planning your space. Whether you’re creating a uniform layout or working to a more specific design, having these options makes it easier to order what you need without unnecessary excess. You can also use our paving calculator to work out quantities before adding to your basket.
These stones are sourced from established quarries in India, selected for their consistency while still allowing for the natural variations and inclusions that give the paving its character. This balance helps the finished area feel cohesive once laid, without losing any of the charm that natural stone offers.
At Bridge Street Stone, we deliver across the UK, and you can also collect directly from our Colne yard if that works better for you. For larger orders or trade enquiries, we offer trade pricing, and if you need help planning your order or choosing the right size, our team is always happy to help.

Colour Variation – Golden Leaf Indian Sandstone
Golden Leaf Indian Sandstone is celebrated for its rich, warm colour palette, featuring a natural blend of golden yellows, soft ambers, sandy beiges, and hints of ochre. As a natural stone, no two pieces are identical, with subtle differences in shading and veining that add depth, character, and authenticity to your outdoor space.
In dry conditions, the stone presents soft, muted golden and beige tones, creating a warm and inviting look. When wet, the colours intensify, revealing deeper amber hues, enhanced veining, and rich golden variations for a more dramatic and striking effect.
This natural variation is part of the unique beauty of Golden Leaf sandstone, ensuring every patio or pathway has a distinctive and timeless appeal. For those looking to preserve or enhance colour intensity, a breathable stone sealer can be used

Golden Leaf Indian Sandstone – Wet vs. Dry Appearance
One of the defining features of Golden Leaf Indian Sandstone is how its colour transforms depending on moisture levels, adding depth and natural beauty to any outdoor space.
-
When Dry – The stone displays soft golden tones, sandy beiges, and subtle amber hues, offering a warm yet understated look that complements traditional and contemporary gardens alike.
-
When Wet – The colours become richer and more vibrant, with deep golden yellows, enhanced ochre tones, and stronger veining, creating a bolder, more dramatic appearance.
This natural variation makes Golden Leaf Indian Sandstone a dynamic and ever-changing feature in your landscape. If you prefer to maintain a consistent look, a breathable stone sealer can help regulate the intensity of these changes while protecting the stone from staining.

Step-by-Step Guide to Laying a Patio
Creating a beautiful and long-lasting patio requires the right materials and a solid installation process. Follow our step-by-step guide to ensure a professional finish, using high-quality paving slabs, jointing compounds, and essential finishing touches available at Bridge Street Stone.
Step 1: Plan & Prepare the Area
Before starting, decide on the size, shape, and layout of your patio. Mark out the area using string lines or spray paint and ensure there’s a slight gradient for water drainage.
You’ll Need:
✔ Paving slabs – Browse our range of natural stone and porcelain paving
✔ Measuring tape & string line – For accurate planning
✔ Shovel & wheelbarrow – To clear the area
Step 2: Dig Out & Create the Sub-Base
Excavate the area to a depth of 150-200mm to allow for the base layers. Compact a 100mm layer of MOT Type 1 using a wacker plate to create a firm foundation.
You’ll Need:
✔ MOT Type 1 hardcore – Order high-quality sub-base material
✔ Wacker plate or compactor – Essential for a solid foundation
Step 3: Prepare the Bedding Layer
A mortar bed is needed to hold your paving in place. Use a mix of 4 parts sharp sand to 1 part cement, adding water until it reaches a firm, workable consistency. Lay the mortar to a depth of 30-50mm across the area.
You’ll Need:
✔ Sharp sand & cement – Shop high-quality materials
✔ Mixing tools – Cement mixer or bucket and spade
Step 4: Lay the Paving Slabs
Start laying the slabs from one corner, ensuring a consistent joint gap between each. Use a rubber mallet to tap them into place and check levels with a spirit level.
You’ll Need:
✔ Paving slabs – Explore our natural stone and porcelain paving
✔ Rubber mallet & spirit level – For precision placement
Step 5: Joint & Finish the Patio
Once the mortar has set (24-48 hours), fill the joints using a high-quality jointing compound or traditional sand and cement mix. Brush the compound into the joints and lightly spray with water to activate.
You’ll Need:
✔ Jointing compound or grout – Browse our range of easy-to-use paving grouts
✔ Soft brush & hosepipe – To apply and set the compound
Step 6: Add the Finishing Touches
Complete your patio with matching edging stones, decorative aggregates, or stone ornaments to enhance the overall design.
You’ll Need:
✔ Paving edgings & setts – Define your patio with stylish edging
✔ Decorative aggregates & stone ornaments – Browse finishing touches for your garden
Enjoy Your New Patio!
By following these steps and using high-quality materials from Bridge Street Stone, your patio will be both beautiful and long-lasting.

How to Clean & Maintain Indian Sandstone
To keep your Indian Sandstone paving looking its best, regular maintenance is key. Sweep away debris to prevent dirt build-up and clean periodically with a mild soapy water solution or a specialist stone cleaner. Avoid using harsh chemicals or pressure washers at high settings, as they can damage the stone’s surface. For long-term protection, consider applying a breathable sealant to help resist stains and enhance colour retention. Over time, natural weathering will add character, but with proper care, your sandstone will remain a beautiful feature in your outdoor space for years to come.
