From elegant garden terraces to carefully crafted entryways, steps and copings have long been essential for giving a sense of structure and style to outdoor spaces. At Bridge Street Stone, we have a thoughtfully curated selection of natural stone steps and copings that combine durability with timeless appeal, helping you create outdoor areas that feel polished and complete.

Our steps are designed to provide a safe, sturdy and stylish transition between levels, whether for patios, gardens, or driveways. They work beautifully when paired with our copings, which are perfect for capping walls, borders, or raised beds and add a refined finishing touch that enhances the overall design of your outdoor space. Each piece is chosen for its strength and weather resistance, so your project looks great now and for years to come.

Sourced with care, our range includes a variety of natural stones, so you can choose the perfect style and finish to complement both traditional and contemporary landscapes. Steps and Copings make the perfect finishing touches on your garden

Here at Bridge Street Stone we supply a wide array of steps and copings, many available with our next-day delivery option. The sheer variety in our range allows you to mix and match them to your Indian sandstone paving, so that you can create exactly the sort of atmosphere you want for your outdoor space. We specialise in sawn and riven steps and paving stones, both of them strongly favoured by buyers all over the UK for their pleasing aesthetics and versatile uses.

Sawn sandstone steps and copings make particularly fitting finishing touches for a contemporary style of space, cultivating an air of sophistication and luxury. Riven stone steps and copings, on the other hand, are popular in more rural settings, since they have a more traditional feel.

Our products can be used as small flourishes for your space in the form of wall copings or pool copings, or as steps to bridge the gap between different elevations in your garden. Whatever you choose, you can be sure that they’ll beautifully complement our Indian paving stones, creating a stunning final effect.

What’s the difference between riven and sawn Indian stone?

It’s a question that our customers often ask us here at Bridge Street Stone. Some of the key differences are clear to see at first glance, but others can be a little more subtle!

Riven sandstone has a rougher texture that’s the result of having been expertly hand chiselled by professional stonemasons, to give it a grooved and naturally imperfect appearance. It’s a look that gives it a raw and traditional feel, which lends itself very well to more rural settings like country homes or cottages. In fact, riven sandstone can be used in almost any environment to provide the entire space with an attractive bit of country charm. Autumn Brown and Golden Leaf are two of the most popular colours for riven sandstone.

Sawn sandstone, on the other hand, is known for its smooth appearance, typically achieved through the use of heavy duty gang saws. This part of the manufacturing process can produce stone in a wide range of textures, so next it’s coarsely polished. The end result is a stone with a semi-smooth appearance, with a look that’s versatile enough to be used in a wide range of settings. Kandla Grey and Kota Black are the top colour choices for sawn stone, and they’re a favourite for sophisticated contemporary environments. They’re often used to bridge the gap between interior and exterior spaces, as part of the indoors-outdoors trend.
